Went to this clinic for many years with many pets My grown children take their pets here now. I moved up by Kansas City over a year ago and still have not found a vet clinic I like as much No other place is as friendly and caring as Dr. Allphin and his staff or as knowledgeable in caring for your animals They also are very good with the owners too. Not something I have found anywhere else

Canine Influenza (Dog Flu):
We have been getting a lot of questions about the canine influenza (dog flu) recently, so we are posting a little information to help answer the common questions and help you to know whether or not your pet needs to be vaccinated against canine influenza.
The first thing to know is that there have been no confirmed cases of dog flu in our practice area. Only a few have been confirmed anywhere in Missouri. The most commonly affected areas where outbreaks have been seen have been in the Chicago area and Florida.
There are two strains of dog flu that have been identified in recent years. The H3N2 strain has been the one identified with the most recent outbreaks.
Should your dog receive the flu vaccine? Currently, we only recommend the vaccine if your dogs are traveling to areas where outbreaks have been seen and if your dogs are going to be in social situations where they will be exposed to other dogs. For example, if your dogs will be in Florida or the Chicago area and you like to take them to dog parks or you will be having them boarded or groomed while in those areas, they should receive the flu vaccine.
Vaccination decisions should always be based on the individual needs and risks of each pet. Please consider the risk factors for your pet and decide if the flu vaccine would be right for your dogs. Please call us today to schedule an appointment if you would like to have your dogs vaccinated against the dog flu.
